Move Ahead with Possibility Thinking!

While it is important to think positively, it is equally important to go beyond positive thinking, and become aware of the possibilities in every situation, viewing life as more than a struggle to survive, but an exciting array of challenges and opportunities. This is what is called possibility thinking.

It takes mental discipline to find the possibilities in a bad situation, but they are there. If we see the possibilities, we can view the situation in a more positive manner. By constructing more than one perspective or viewpoint, we open the door to greater flexibility and more constructive action.

Possibility thinking starts with the conviction that you make a difference, that you are capable of doing greater and greater things. Searching for the possibilities sometimes involves the mental skill of finding options and possibilities that may be right under one’s nose. The simpler they are, the more likely they will elude us.

When was the last time you secluded yourself, took a pad and pen to jot down great ideas that illuminated your mind - just wandered off by yourself to think ... to think of what is possible? You could be on the brink of something big. You could have an idea waiting to surface in your consciousness that will keep you excited for years to come. All things are possible. Thoughts are powerful!

One of the greatest challenges in life is understanding just how powerful our thoughts are. Many of us learn this the hard way.

While I do believe that there is such a thing as fate or destiny, there are far fewer instances of that in our lives than we think. More often than not, our thoughts work against us and we can live our entire lives being completely unaware of it. The good news is that we can consciously choose to have our thoughts work for us, rather than against us. All it takes is the willingness to believe it’s possible, and of course, the willingness to do the work required.

Thoughts are powerful – so how do we change them?

By purposely feeding our minds more positive material. Remember that your life as it exists today is the direct result of your past and present beliefs about yourself. You may or may not be aware of these beliefs on a conscious level, but that doesn’t matter. The most important thing is to begin changing those beliefs NOW. This will eventually override the negative messages, and your life will change. Whether you want to lose a few pounds, make more money, meet your soulmate or write a best-selling novel, know that you DO have the power to do it.
