How bad do you want it?!

A young man approaches the wise guru in the village to teach him the ways of success. The guru tells him to show up at the beach at 4 AM and that if he does that, he’ll teach him his ways.
The student, a bit confused, agrees to anyway. The next day he arrives at 4 in a suit at the beach.
The guru laughs and says, “If you wish to learn, you must do exactly what I tell you, agreed?”
“Sure.”
“I want you to walk into the ocean.”
The student walks into the ocean until the water is up to his knees.
“Further…Walk further.”
The student goes further until the water is at chest level.
The guru, having walked with him, holds the student under the water. The student begins to panic and tries to rise above water but the guru holds him down. Just when it seems like the student is out of breath, the guru pulls him out of the water.
“I have only one question for you: When you were under water, what did you want to do?”
“I wanted to breathe!”
“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful.”
When you’re short of breath, the only thing you’re trying to do is to get air. You don’t care about your basketball game, a party, what’s on TV – all you care about is breathing. When you can replicate that same level of desire, then you can be successful.
Most people want success, but they don’t want it badly enough. Because if they did, they’d be willing to make sacrifices.
