How Do You Build a Strong Organization?

A strong organization starts with you.  If you have the ‘want’ the compensation plan will reward you to the degree you are willing to work.  Your success is determined by building a strong organization. Ask yourself: what is the meaning of an executive to you?    What do you want to accomplish as an executive? 
A real estate agent sold a large piece of empty property to a man who then planned to build homes on the land and sell the homes for profit. The man was told that proper sewage would be installed by the city in the near future - the problem was the city did not have any plans to put proper sewage on the property so homes did not have sewage - no one would buy his 4 completed homes until sewage was connected.  As a result, he now owned a huge property, built 4 houses and accumulated huge debt that he could not pay. 
He had a wife and 3 kids, he could not even park his car at his house because the car was about to be repossessed.  “Do we have any money for groceries?” The answer was no, she then asked "What are the kids going to eat"?
He needed to make money right away in order to buy groceries to feed his kids. He went to a local car dealership and see if he could get a job. Keep in mind; he had a stuttering problem, putting him at an obvious disadvantage for a salesman. The owner did not want to hire him so he went to another dealership.  He knew that he would not be hired  because they were already overstaffed.  So  he told the owner that he would not take any potential customers and would find his own leads. He tore pages out of the phone book and was about to start cold calling when a man walked into the dealership. It was at the end of the day, all other sales people were busy or had left for the day, he was the only one left and  he make the sale. The owner based on the sale of the car, lent  him cash so he could buy groceries and  feed his family.
The stuttering salesman had a very simple ‘want’: feed my family. This was his that was enough to drive him to say the right things and do enough of the right things to sell the man a car.   While the other salesmen were thinking scarcity, he was focused on his want.   This is a classic example of how knowing what you want, knowing your why will have most of what you need to be successful.
We can have as much success as we want as long as we are willing to work for it.  There is nobody in Team Elite who did not have a burning desire and knowledge of what they truly wanted.  When the stuttering salesman was met with an obstacle, all he saw was groceries for his family. If you are met with difficulty, your ‘want’ needs to rise to the forefront of your mind and so you have the drive to overcome various bumps in the road.
Knowing what you want may not be everything but it will always provide you with what you need.  It is easy for some to shrink their dreams to match their income and continue to get by.
When building a network, find people with an attitude of doing the right things without being told what to do. People in many cases would like to be comfortable and coast along through life however you can only coast one way and that is down.  Your ‘want’ needs to be strong enough that a comfort zone will not pull you back in.   
What is the definition of executive? What does it mean to you? What do you want to accomplish?  Is there anything stopping you from attaining it? What is keeping you in the sandpit of mediocrity? 
Ask yourself: What is stopping your growth? Find the ‘want’ and let your burning desire lead the way.
